UCA awards upcoming cricketers

YOUNGSTERS Lucas Kansiime (15) and Emmanuel Issa (16) were voted most upcoming players by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) during a ceremony of the ICC World Cricket week at Lugogo last weekend.

By Ronnie Kintu YOUNGSTERS Lucas Kansiime (15) and Emmanuel Issa (16) were voted most upcoming players by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) during a ceremony of the ICC World Cricket week at Lugogo last weekend. Kansiime, from Kings College Budo and Issa from Jinja SS, were awarded with cricket bats and certificates at a function officiated by British High Commissioner Tom Phillips. Phillips earlier attended a match between the ‘Bagurusi’ and ‘Whitecaps’ captained by veteran John Nagenda and Nile Breweries Henry Rudd respectively. The duo notably among the top players during the Coca-Cola schools cricket championships were also part of the 30 youngsters who attended a one-week cricket academy at Lugogo. They received certificates. During the occasion, members of re-established Whitecaps Cricket Club donated playing equipment to Gayaza High School and Kings College Budo girls cricket teams. ends
