THE Inspector General of Police (IGP), Katumba Wamala, has warned police officers against indiscipline.

By Esther Mukyala THE Inspector General of Police (IGP), Katumba Wamala, has warned police officers against indiscipline. Wamala said graft ranked the top indiscipline among Police officers, saying if not fought hard, it might cause greater problems in the Police Force. Wamala made the remarks while addressing Police officers at the Jinja Police Station on Tuesday. He said, “Police officers have engaged themselves in a lot of corruption but where I will catch you in that direction, I will make sure I turn the statute which is impotent in terms of discipline inside out and make you leave the Force.” He said indiscipline would not be tolerated in the Police Force. He noted that corruption was a big war in the entire world but urged the officers to cooperate and ensure the bad image of police institution was restored. Katumba expressed concern over indecent dressing and drunkenness among the cops. He asked them to be exemplary in their behaviour. He said over-drinking degrades the officers and takes away their moral authority to advise the society on good conduct. “Do not compromise yourselves through indiscipline. Use your salaries to improve your diet,” Wamala said.
