THE Chieftainacy of Military Intelligence (CMI) is holding a rebel suspect arrested in Rakai after he allegedly recruited about 16 youth into rebel-related activities, reports Eddie Ssejjoba in Rakai. Kizza Kimera, alias Capt. Kimera, was arrested during a joint Police and CMI operation. He is said to have been taking the recruits to some places in Mpigi district. Resident District Commissioner Mary Frances Owor said Kimera was arrested from Banda in Kabira sub-county, Kyoteora with some pairs of army combat. She said he had recruited 16 youths and took them to an unknown destination in Gomba, Mpigi. She said Kimera had been posing as an army man, a worker in the President’s Office attached to the Presidential Protection Unit and persuaded several youth to join him. Three of the youth escaped and tipped the security personnel. Their identity cards and money had been confiscated. The district special branch officer, Denis Sebuggwawo, said the Police trailed Kimera as he returned to take more recruits. He said Kimera was first sighted in Kyotera town with two rifles but disappeared at Beteremu road. He was later arrested at Kabira and handed over to the CMI personnel from Kasijjagirwa Armoured Brigade. Sebuggwawo said investigatiions were still on but they would prefer charges of engaging in subversive acts and impersonation against Kimera. Ends
