Rain To Increase In October

THERE is likely to be increased rainfall in most parts of the country, with the peak season expected in late October.

By Vision reporter THERE is likely to be increased rainfall in most parts of the country, with the peak season expected in late October. The seasonal rainfall forecast for the period September to December 2001 issued by the Department of Meteorology, said parts of Lake Victoria Basin, Central Western, South-western, Central and Eastern Uganda are likely to have near normal to above normal rainfall. The Northern and North-western parts of the country will experience above normal to normal rainfall, while North eastern Uganda, including Karamoja, is likely to receive normal to below normal. The Commissioner for Meteorology, Mr. Bwango Apuuli, yesterday said average to above average is a good season. Apuuli said this pattern is likely to cover all parts of the country except the Karamoja region. A statement from the department said in the Central-western area, steady rains will continue until late October. Intermittent rains are expected to continue up to early December when dry conditions are likely to set in. Ends
