CANADIAN golfer Steve Humphrey carded a personal best 135 nett to win the Uganda Telecom tournament at Kitante yesterday.

By William Muwonge CANADIAN golfer Steve Humphrey carded a personal best 135 nett to win the Uganda Telecom tournament at Kitante yesterday. Humphrey, playing off handicap 10, fired 65, cutting five strokes off his score on Saturday to win. The 34-year old Humphrey, a teacher at Lincoln International school, sunk birdies on holes 8, 15 and 16 enroute to his first win of the year. “I had a good time, the greens were holding,” the left-handed golfer told The New Vision. “I would like to encourage young golfers to join the game, we have a few at my school.” Eric Adriko, veteran player and day-one leader, settled for a small award with a 138 nett. Jenina Nasimolo at 145 and Rose Musoke at 148 were the top lady players. Leading results: Overall winner-S. Humphrey 135 nett; Group A (0-9) E. Adriko 138, S. Zaramba 143 c/b K.
