By Joyce Namutebi National Council of Sports has proposed that the Auditor General be called in to probe FUFA’s expenditure of monies received from soccer world governing body FIFA. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has in the past three years received $750,000 (sh1.3bn) to develop football from FIFA. National Council of Sports(NCS) assistant general secretary, John Odyek told Parliament’s committee on social services that: “whatever they(FUFA) receive from FIFA, they use it as they like and that is where we have been concerned.” He said that a commission of inquiry had earlier been recommended but the process was long. “We are thinking of contacting the Auditor General to look into the matter. We shall get quicker results,” Odyek told the committee chaired by Dorothy Hyuha (woman Tororo). Hyuha said that the committee was not happy with the unending wrangles in sports. Odyek said, FUFA is affiliated to NCS, which controls its activities. The committee heard that the Education ministry was working on a sports policy and scrutinising the NCS Act. Abbey Lutaya is NCS general secretary. ends
