SOS Children’s Villages is a worldwide child welfare organization that provides homes and educational opportunities to orphaned and abandoned children. It was established 50 years ago and currently runs Children’s Villages and other projects in more than 135 countries around the world. SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is affiliated to SOS Kinderdorf International, and has been working in Uganda since 1991. The first SOS Children’s Village was set up at Kakiri 25 km along Kampala-Hoima road, while a second one is under construction at Abayita Ababiri near Entebbe. SOS MOTHERS (20) We seek to recruit single mature women between 28-35 years of age with a minimum of secondary school education for our new SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGE ENTEBBE. They should be without strong family commitments, e.g. young biological children or dependants directly under their care, and whose situation would allow them to dedicate themselves to work with children on a long-term basis. The successful candidates will spend at least 6 months as Mother Trainees. An SOS Mother not only has the same cares, duties and joys as any other mother, but she is also the head of an SOS family comprising 8 to 10 children of both sexes and various ages. She is responsible for running the household independently, including managing the family budget. She provides the children with affection and care, availing them a sense of security that they need for their development. In all aspects of the children’s upbringing, she fulfils the role of a natural mother, guiding and supporting each child according to his / her individual needs and interests. Her working week is a full seven days, compensated by some days off at the end of each month and an annual leave. 505 Children’s Villages will offer full training and support, a competitive salary, accommodation, medical and other benefits.
