By Richard Mutumba THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that of education are preparing Col. Muammar Gadaffi’s curriculum vitae to enable the Libyan leader get a Makerere University honorary doctorate degree. Foreign affairs minister, James Wapakhabulo told the parliamentary committee on presidential and foreign affairs that his ministry had been asked to prepare the write-up. MPs had expressed concern that Gadaffi could be denied a honorary degree merely on grounds of the absence of a CV. Wapakhabulo said his ministry was working together with that education and sports to avail the university with a write-up on Gadaffi. He did not elaborate. Reports recently said the university Senate was to vote on whether or not to award Gadaffi an honorary degree in law. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Sebuwufu, recently said no decision had been reached on the award of honorary degrees during the university’s 40th graduation ceremony slated for October 12. “Senate decides honorary awards in a secret ballot,” Sebuwufu said. “So until the names are submitted to Senate and a secret ballot done, you can’t say a decision has been taken.” Ends
