THE Central government has given a rehabilitation fund amounting to sh16m to Comboni College, Lira, whose students went on strike last term.
This was revealed by the headteacher, Mr Tom Otim, during a meeting between the teaching staff and officials from the Ministry of Education.
The officials included Mr John Agaba, the Assistant Commissioner for Secondary education and Aloysious Chebet, a senior inspector of schools.
Agaba and Chebet were at the school to assess the causes of the strike and identify possible solutions.
The headteacher said the school had so far received sh10m out of the sh16m. The money was used to complete a six-classroom block.
“I don’t know how long it will take us to put the school back in good shape,†Otim said.
The library, dining hall, dormitories, laboratories and teachers’ houses need renovation.
