DEFENDER Timothy Batabaire got injured in Villa’s league match against Chicago on Tuesday and Medi Nsubuga is on standby for the Castle Cup next week.
“He (Nsubuga) is fast and I think he can make the replacement,†said an official at Cranes camp.
Batabaire did not survive a tackle by Chicago’s Walter Ochaya in the match Villa won 2-1 to close in on a record 13th league title.
Assistant national coach Charles Namakoola could only say: “ The official list will be out on Friday after the morning training.â€
Cranes are defending champions of the lucrative Castle Cup, having edged Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania for the title last year in Nairobi.
r Congolese coach Louis Watunda has included just two players from champions TP Mazembe in his 16-man squad named for next week's four-nations tournament in Tanzania.
The Lubumbashi-based club, which completes its African Champions League commitments this weekend, provided the bulk of the Democratic Republic of Congo's squad in recent World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers.
