By Robert Bukenya SPOrts state minister Henry Okello Oryem (pictured right) has asked the Inspector general of Police, Brigadier Wamala Katumba, to investigate allegations of bribery raised after the recent Nile Special Super league match between SC Villa and KCC. Reliable sources at the education and sports ministry said the minister has given police one week to investigate and report back to him their findings. Oryem has also asked National Council of Sports (NCS) and Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to assist in the investigations. The minister condemned bribery and vowed to take serious action against whoever will be pinned down in the report, according to the sources. The decline of football standards in the country is partly blamed on bribery. Oryem is reacting to press reports on Sunday that quoted FIFA referee Fred Kakooza as saying that a KCC official he did not name tried to bribe him to make a fair report on the aborted Villa/KCC Namboole derby on October 6. The press report also implicated Villa secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu and Zimmwe Kasaga for trying to offer Kakooza sh1m for the same. The league committee has since awarded Villa three points and two goals for the abandoned game. ends
