By John Eremu PROF. Erisa Ssemakula was on Sunday installed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Bugema University. The occasion coincided with the university’s seventh graduation where 115 students were awarded certificates, diplomas and degrees in various disciplines by the Chancellor, Dr. John Wani. A new mult-imillion shillings library was also officially opened by the Minister of General Duties, Prof. Mondo Kagonyera who represented President Yoweri Museveni. Ssemakula replaces Prof. Moses Golola, who early this year joined the East African Inter-university Council. Wani assured Ssemakula of the administration support when executing his duties. He asked the administration to guide him as he has been out of the country for 25 years. Kagonyera hailed Ssemakula for leaving his lucrative job in the United States to return to serve his country. Ssemakula commended the Movement government for its positive policies towards education and pledged to supplement its efforts by training high quality manpower critical for development and poverty eradication. He appealed to the Government to help the university complete the second and third phases of the ultra-modern library.
