By Yunusu Abbey THE ministry of defence has rejected the 20 second-hand Czech-made trucks recently supplied to them due to their poor mechanical condition. “We have never accepted those trucks because they were not brought in the condition agreed on in the contract,” Gabindadde-Musoke, the permanent secretary told The New Vision on Saturday. The trucks were reportedly not overhauled. “Those trucks are still in the hands of the supplier. They have never been handed over to us. We asked the chief mechanical engineer to examine them and we are yet to get his report,” he said. Sources said contrary to earlier reports, an Israeli firm known as Soltam, supplied the TATRA trucks and not Silver Shadow. Ends
