This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 561 of 30th June 2001. The Republic of Uganda has received a credit from the International Development Association in various currencies towards the cost of HIV/AIDS Control Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for Supply of motor vehicles. The Uganda AIDS Commission Secretariat now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of motor vehicles consisting of: • Double Cab P/Ups; Quantity 32 • Station Wagons; Quantity 3 The Bidder is allowed, at its option, to bid for individual lots or for any combination of lots. Further, the bidder shall quote for all the items and the entire quantities specified in a Lot. Bids for partial quantities in a lot will not be considered. The basis for bid evaluation and contract award will be by individual lot basis or a combination of lots, whichever is advantageous to the Purchaser. However, if no bidder quotes for all the items in a lot, then one or more contracts will be awarded for individual items in a Lot, at the option of the Purchaser. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 0900 to 1600 office hours. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below (1) and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of UShs 90,000 or US$ 50. The method of payment will be by cash, cashier’s check or direct deposit to a specified account No. which will be availed to bidders in writing upon request. For overseas delivery an additional US$ 50 will be paid and the document will be sent by courier. Bids must be delivered to the address below (2) by 1000 hours on 15th January 02. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of at least two percent of bid price or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency for each lot. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address below (2) at 1000 hours on 15th January 02.
