Nsadhu Mourns Journalist Victoria Mukasa

THE state minister for information, Basoga Nsadhu, has mourned the late veteran journalist Victoria Mukasa, reports Kezio D. Musoke. Mukasa died on Wednesday after collapsing at her home on Wampewo Avenue in Kampala. She will be buried today in Bunamwaya near Kampala after a requiem mass at Christ the King Church at 100:am Nsadhu said the entire staff of the Department of Information in the President Office and the media fraternity learnt with profound shock the death of Mukasa. “Of recent Victoria, Ouma Balikowa and Emmanuel Mukanga were in my office briefing me about their contribution towards the Media Law Reforms. In the last two weeks Victoria has been in Nairobi and Arusha to attend workshops relating to the media,” he said. “We shall miss her greatly. We thank God for lending to us this wonderful gift of Victoria for he is the one who gives and who takes away,” Nsadhu added. He described Mukasa as a person with a high zeal to the profession of journalism that was unequalled. Mukasa rose through the ranks in the Ministry of Information and by the time of her death she was Principal Information Officer and head of the Vice- President’s Press Unit. She was the first woman president of the Uganda Journalist Association. Ends
