FOUR people died yesterday when a speeding commuter taxi they were travelling in crashed into a stationary truck and overturned at Nakawa in Kampala, reports Geoffrey Kamali. Ten other passengers in the taxi were rushed to Mulago and Nsambya hospitals in critical condition. Doctors at Mulago said the death toll is likely to rise as some of them suffered serious injuries. The Police said the accident occurred a few meters after the Ntinda junction on the Kampala-Jinja highway at about 5:15am. The deceased were identified as Robert Kajoba, John Mugerwa, working with Kyaterekera Wholesalers and Livingstone Oduma, an employee of Uganda Meat Packers. Keffa Naduli, the conductor of the vehicle, died on arrival at Mulago hospital. The bodies were taken to the city mortuary, pending post-mortem. Casualties included Sakka Senkubuge, 21, Emmanuel Mwanga, 32, Moses Ibanda 20, Enos Bisaso (17) Nasimu Nakaziba (32) and Sarah Nakku (30). others are Charles Kigozi (32), Moses Dhikusoka (18), Juma and Ssekimpi of Uganda Meat Packers.
