THE visiting Chinese vice president “All China Women Federation, Hua Fuzhou, has advised the women in Arua to adopt to riding bicycles where they could carry heavy luggage instead of using their heads. She said the heavy luggage on their heads may cause mental disturbance or ill-health. Hua was addressing residents of Pajulu sub-county in Ayivu, at the handing over of several sewing machines to women groups in the area. Fuzhou said heavy luggage is carried on heads here unlike in China, where the luggage is carried on backs. Fuzhou was accompanied by the Chinese ambassador to Uganda, Zhang Xujiang. The minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Bakoko Bakoru Zoe, commended the Chinese government for the assistance extended to Uganda and the people of Arua.
