Overnight parking at petrol stations

SIR—I am disappointed about the recent decision by Maj-Gen Katumba Wamala about parking at petrol stations.

SIR—I am disappointed about the recent decision by Maj-Gen Katumba Wamala about parking at petrol stations. It seems this gentleman either doesn’t live in an average Ugandan home or has a home similar to Europeans’. This is what I suggest: - Gen Wamala should first ensure that security in every suburb is guaranteed by having a patrol vehicle in every cell in Kampala, which am very sure is wonderland to him or installing GPS cameras which I am sure he has never heard of. - He should disarm the LDUs who have become the most rampant car and property thieves in our local suburbs of residence. - The innovative IGP should do a survey to establish how many car owners actually even stay in self-contained houses, and the population distribution around his “Europe”. There, he will know that 80% of the people in an average suburb are sleeping hungry and will use any slightest chance to eat, lest leave alone a car indicator parked outside a neighbour’s muzigo.
