By Joyce Namutebi CURFEW has been slapped on Kapchorwa town and the acting Chief Administrative Officer, Chelimo has been arrested, Members of Parliament from the area said yesterday. The Anti-Riot Police was also deployed following the shooting at a Police vehicle and at the residences of the assistant CAO and an aspirant for the district chairmanship. Tingey MP Steven Chebrot told The New Vision that Chelimo was being held in Mbale Prison for contempt of court. He said Chelimo had refused to hand over office to the CAO, John Kashaka Muhanguzi, who had been illegally interdicted. Chebrot said the curfew begins at 7:00pm to 6:00am and that the Police had mounted several roadblocks in the area. The High Court in Mbale on November 9, ordered for the arrest of the district chairman, Christopher Chepkrui Songhor, the district council, and the district service Commission (DSC) for contempt of court orders. Chebrot said court had in October ordered the LC5 chairperson and DSC headed by Jovan Kulany to hand over office to Muhanguzi and failure to do so would result into issuing a warrant of arrest for them.
