By Ahmed Angulibo The Minister of State for Transport, Andruale Awuzu, has refuted claims that the Movement government does not fulfil its pledges. “This (Movement) government does fulfil its promises. We make promises and move slowly,” Awuzu told the people of West Nile while reacting to their complaints at the closure of a consultative meeting called by the Electricity Regulatory Authority. The meeting, at Arua Catholic Centre on Friday, was to get the opinion of the people on any electricity project. Awuzu, who represented energy and mineral development minister Syda Bumba, said the tarmacking of the Arua-Nebbi-Pakwach road had started and that from Karuma to Pakwach would begin within a year’s time. “In four years time, you will drive on tarmac from Arua to Kampala,” he said. Awuzu apologised to the people of West Nile who sometimes spend two weeks on the road because of the bad condition between Karuma and Pakwach. He said the Ombaci Satellite and an FM radio station in the district, which were among President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign pledges, had reached advanced stages. “I don’t know what you are going to say to deny the Movement government votes in 2006 (presidential elections) since we have given you everything. “What is remaining is water. But ask for it in a nice way,” Awuzu said. “Go and tell the people that the electricity is coming,” he urged those who had inquired when the Nyagak and Olewa power work would begin. Ends
