By James Bakama & Daniel Saire SC VILLA finally broke their silence over the on-going player transfers by signing three Congolese yesterday. The Nile Special Super League champions acquired Pascal Yaya and Kasongo Ekochu from newly promoted Kasese Town Council, and Robert Nzema from Garuga Kihiihi FC. Coach Paul Hasule said Yaya and Nzema will boost his midfield while Ekochu will sharpen his attack that might lose Andrew “Fimbo” Mukasa to Express. The three, escorted by SC Villa secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu, signed and submitted transfer forms to returning officer Sulaiman Zziwa at the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) offices at Nakulabye. SC Villa coach Paul Hasule, who spotted the players in the western zone super mini-league, is confident the trio will deliver. “That’s exactly why I recruited them,” he said, adding that theirs is a quiet and cautious recruitment aimed at moulding a team that will qualify for next year’s Africa Champions league. He was however guarded on whom they are targeting next. “It’s against club ethics to reveal such things.” Meanwhile, FUFA has warned that the transfer of players who have signed contracts can only take place outside the current player transfer exercise. FUFA have directed that players under contract should not pick transfer forms. They have been advised to negotiate their deals separately. FUFA has meanwhile advanced Express $16,000 (sh28m) to pay their former coach Dragan Popadic’s outstanding salary arrears. In a related development, FIFA has given FUFA up to November 30 to pay an Express FC outstanding debt of $1,200 (sh2.1m) to Burundian referees. ends
