A 60-year-old man is being held by the Police in Luweero for allegedly torturing his two grandchildren by burning them with hot charcoal, following a drinking spree, reports Frederick Kiwanuka.

A 60-year-old man is being held by the Police in Luweero for allegedly torturing his two grandchildren by burning them with hot charcoal, following a drinking spree, reports Frederick Kiwanuka. Steven Kawewedde, a peasant of Wakivule village in Bamunaanika was arrested last week on Tuesday, after the Police rescued him from an angry mob that wanted to lynch him. Luweero District Police Commander Godfrey Taire said the Police were tipped off by an informer who noticed the burns on the lips, hands and legs of children. The victims were identified as Maria Namakula, 6, and Didane Mukiibi, 4. The girl, Namakula also had her private parts burnt, the DPC said. The victims who were brought to the Police station were immediately rushed to hospital to have their smelling wounds treated.
