By Norman Katende UGANDA Breweries Limited (UBL) has suspended all their sponsorship to Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) until they put their house in order - The New Vision can reveal. According to highly placed sources in Uganda Tennis Association (UTA), National Council of sports (NCS) and UBL , the sponsorship was to be withdrawn but after some discussion, it was decided that they only suspended it due to the negative publicity UTA is having. “As sponsors, our main aim is to gain through publicity, but there is no way you can gain anything when you are sponsoring an activity were the organisers have lost public reputation,” said a UBL officer, who preferred anonymity yesterday. The officer added that UBL had early this year approved sh29m for the Uganda Open but the trend of things forced them to freeze the money. Early this month, International Tennis Federation (ITF) development officer Karl Davies recommended for the suspension of all ITF grants until Gideon Karyoko and Wasswa Ddungu are removed from office. ends
