By Milton Olupot THE Karimojong have said the Sudan is their biggest source of firearms, and called on the Government to initiate disarmament to seal off gun trafficking routes into the region. They said disarming the Karimojong alone was not enough to bring security to Karamoja and its neighbourhood. Karimojong kraal leaders told a press conference at the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) head office in Kampala on Wednesday that the process will only yield positive results when arms sources to Karamoja are sealed off. President Yoweri Museveni will launch the disarmament programme on December 2. It is aimed at removing an estimated 40,000 to 100,000 illegal guns used by Karimojong cattle rustlers to terrorise the neighbouring regions of Bugisu, Sebei, Teso, Lango and Acholi.
