Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) was incorporated as a limited liability company on 26th March 2001. Its business is to generate and trade electricity. The functional offices of the company are at Nalubaale Power Station, Kiira Power Station and Amber Court all located in Jinja. UEGCL is seeking to recruit self-motivated and experienced Ugandan professionals to fill the following positions: 1. MANAGER, FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION (1 POST) The position, located at UEGCL's Amber Court Offices, will report to the Managing Director. The primary purpose of the position is to assist in policy formulation and effectively manage the Finance, Accounting, IT, Secretariat, Human Resource, Security and Administrative aspects of UEGCL's business. The job holder will be required to provide expert advice particularly in Finance and Accounting and also ensure that all the other functions stated above are effectively coordinated in accordance with corporate policies, standards and procedures. Main duties of the position The Main Duties of the position are: - Financial Accounting and Reporting: to provide UEGCL with an effective accounting system to meet its statutory and management requirements and the production of periodic and annual accounts in accordance with International Accounting standards and statutory requirements. - Management Accounting: to provide costing information necessary for operational and corporate management to plan, control and review revenue and capital activities. In the short to medium term, focus on the revision and development of management accounting information and related systems. - Treasury: to arrange the long and short term financing of UEGCL and also ensure effective cash, credit, loan and foreign exchange management. - Financial Planning: to identify, develop, propose and operate financial policies and strategies which will ensure a sound financial structure for UEGCL. - Material Storage: to provide a central cost-effective materials storage service. - Materials Planning and Control: to plan for, monitor and control, stocks of regularly used materials and plan/monitor/advise on irregularly used materials. - Property Administration & Physical Security: to ensure protection of UEGCL's property interests. - Co-ordination of key functions: to effectively manage and coordinate the functions of: Secretariat, IT, HR and Administration. And to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. THE PERSON SPECIFICATIONS The desired person should have the following essential requirements. - University Degree in one of the following disciplines: Commerce, Accounting, Finance and Business Administration. - Professional qualifications to full graduate level in one or more of the following: ACCA, CPA, CIMA and ICSA. - Possession of a Masters degree in Business Administration will be an added advantage. - Managerial Experience of not less than 8 years in Financial Accounting and Management. - Can demonstrate a background of multi-disciplinary management. - Can demonstrate a background of personal and strategic leadership. - Highly motivated, innovative and committed team player. 2. MANAGER, TECHNICAL SERVICES (1 POST) The position, located at UEGCL's Nalubaale Power Station Offices, will report to the Managing Director. The primary purpose of the position is to provide efficiently and effectively defined specialist services to support the technical function. MAIN DUTIES OF THE POSITION The Main Duties of the position are: - Technical Support for Hydro Power Station(s): to provide an engineering and technical support service to Hydro Station(s) - Station Expenditure: to ensure expenditure is within budget and is cost effective; - Work organisation and methods: to develop effective work organisation and methods within the hydro station(s) and a system of performance review and audit; and - Safety, Reliability and Stability of Civil Engineering Structures: to ensure the safety, reliability and civil engineering structures through the development and application of suitable standards and procedures. And to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. The person specification The desired person should have the following essential requirements. - University Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. - Experience of not less than 8 years in operation, maintenance or construction of power stations. - Proven ability to develop the potential of plant and facilities. - Can demonstrate a background of personal and strategic leadership. - Highly motivated, innovative and committed team player. 3. MANAGER, AUDIT (1 POST) The position, located at UEGCL's Amber Court Offices, will report to the Managing Director. The primary purpose of the position is to manage quality control and proactively input audits of high risk areas/activities for UEGCL. The job holder will be required to provide expert advice particularly in Internal Audit and also to coordinate with the external auditors of the company and ensure that all the functional areas of the company business are comprehensively vetted and co-ordinated in accordance with corporate policies, standards and procedures. MAIN DUTIES OF THE POSITION The Main Duties of the position are: (a) To manage audit staff and main audits at any one time including defining scope and objectives, agreeing tests, reviewing findings/recommendations and agreeing final report in UEGCL. (b) To proactively input to the management of the function including scoping annual audit programme. (c) To personally carry out sensitive audits/investigations. (d) To allocate resources, monitor progressive/productivity and efficiency with which resources are employed. The scope of these audits embraces the wide range of activities including: - Operation and Maintenance - Transport - Capital Works - Customer Accounting - Credit Management and Cash Control (up to point money lodged in Bank) - Materials Management - Payroll Administration - Budgetary Control and Management Information. And to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. THE PERSON SPECIFICATIONS The desired person should have the following essential requirements. - University Degree in one of the following disciplines: Commerce, Accounting, Finance and Business Administration - Professional qualifications to full graduate level in one or more of the following: ACCA, CPA, CIMA and ICSA. Professional Audit qualification apart from the stated ones will be considered. - Managerial Experience of not less than 8 years in Internal Audit or external audit practiced in reputable Audit firms. - Can demonstrate a background of personal and strategic leadership. - Highly motivated, innovative and committed team player.
