Sempangi was warned many times!

SIR—I am the director of Stichting Redt een Kind, a Dutch Christian Childcare organisation, active worldwide since 1968. Since 1971, we have been supporting the work of Africa Foundation in Uganda, led by Dr Kefa Sempangi. Until January1 2002, Redt een Kind supports 259 children of Africa Foundation. Last week we received copies of two articles about the closure of Africa Foundation Children's Home at Dandira in Mukono district. One had been published by The New Vision, the other by The Monitor. The contents in the articles alarmed us greatly. In these articles it is said that the sponsor of Africa Foundation ceased sponsorship because they are now helping the people of Afghanistan. This was quoted from Dr Sempangi himself. And it is not true. The reason for our withdrawal is because of blatant mismanagement. Even with repeated warnings and check-ups, there was no improvement, hence our decision to stop funding Dr Sempangi’s orphanage. Albert Hengelaar Stichting Redt een Kind, Holland
