THE German Technical Co-operation (Gtz) has donated $8m(sh13.6b), for the fight against malaria, reports Charity Kalebbo. Dr. Dan Twebaze medical officer for Kampala central division and co-ordinator for the private public partnership said, “The money has been given to the central division to work in partnership with Aventis through Quality Chemicals.” The first strategic planning meeting between the private sector and the public sector took place recently at Fairway Hotel. The meeting was to find ways in which the private sector could best operate with the public sector in the fight against malaria. The objectives of the meeting were threefold: to create awareness to the politicians about the dangers of malaria; to review and critique the existing methods in the fight against malaria and to solicit for extra funds to aid the fight.
