By Norman Katende AT the field, they all look the same but it was different at the hand over ceremony that took place at the FUFA headquarters last week. The room was cool despite the heatwave draining Ugandans of late. The referees wardrobe had a variety to offer ranging from kitenge, suits to casual wear. Apart from being in an office responsible for football, nothing could attach them to the great sport at first sight save for the words they spoke. “It is the end of an era and the beginning of another. Nobody has won or lost except FUFRA,” is what outgoing referees’ chairman Moses Kigongo-Bukenya could afford to say after 15 minutes of a moving speech. “I wish FUFRA good luck. I have done my best with utmost faith,” he said in a sympathetic tone as members of the incoming and outgoing executive looked on without a word. “I am glad you have come in because I regard you as the best administrator,” he referred to incoming chairman Aggrey David Kibenge. “Continue working for us. We need your advise for the development of the game,” Kibenge replied after promising to fight and uplift refereeing to a professional level. ends
