Itojo goes to Ntungamo

MBARARA district Saturday handed over Itojo sub-county to Ntungamo district following a request by the sub county residents that they be transferred to the nearest district for better services reports Kyomuhendo Muhanga The hand over was made by the Mbarara CAO Mr. Hezzy Kafureeka and Tom Nkayarwa, a senior officer in the ministry of local government witnessed the function on behalf of the minister Jabweri Bidandi Sali. Receiving the files, the CAO Ntungamo Mr. Alex Byarugaba promised that Ntungamo would deliver services to the people of Itojo. He said, “on behalf of Ntungamo, I wish to accept Itojo sub-county to Ntungamo whole heartedly and I promise the residents that they will get the services as they wished when demanding to be transferred.” The district chairman John Karazaarwe described the hand over as maturity in the decentralisation system. “This is a very special occasion. It’s the first time in my life that I’m witnessing the change of districts, boundary without a row. I will live to praise Mbarara district chairman Fred Kamugira for his clean leadership to honour the wishes of the people,” Karazaarwe said.
