The team's brilliant finish also saw Uganda 76th overall out of 128 teams, a remarkable improvement from the 1998 edition where the Ugandans finished 98th. Uganda Chess Federation chairman, Daniel Nsibambi is a happy man despite his players missing out on the medal harvest. "It is really a big improvement as compared to 1998, they finished in a respectable position. I am happy that the boys have not declined and that is a sign of a good future," Nsibambi said yesterday. Grace Nsubuga, Stephen Opio and Bob Bibasa won their games on board one, two and three as the Ugandans hammered Ethiopia. Stephen Kawuma lost his 14th round to finish with a personal rally of six points.
