Referee William Bizibu said the draw scheduled for midday, will also determine the opening event in the sh 25.9m competition that ends on November 25. The men's singles, men's doubles, ladies singles and mixed doubles form the program of the premier Ugandan tennis competition. Nobert Oduor beat Rwandan Sylvani Rutikanga to win the competition last year. Janet Magona won the women's event. Entries are expected from Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Kenya. Matches to determine the four players who will join the main competition from the preliminary rounds were due to end yesterday. The day's program was set to begin with an encounter between David Kateregga and Ibrahim Byansi. The winner of this match will face Herbert Tamale. The remaining three qualifiers will be determined in matches between Patrick Olobo and Herbert Nkugwa, Alfred Orach v John Oyet, Joseph Mujuni v Musa Kyambadde. Uganda Breweries through its flagship brand Bell Lager sponsor the competition. The men's singles winner will walk away with sh1.25m, while the top woman pockets sh750,000 in total prize package of sh 8m. This is Uganda Breweries fifth sponsorship of the annual competition organised by Uganda tennis body. Ends.
