* Mubiru, Sunguti moves confirmed as KCC bid for Abedi cleared by NFLC By Leo Kabunga THE transfer of players for the 2001 season concluded yesterday with what looked like a 1-1 draw result for each of the three top clubs, SC Villa, Express and KCC. Villa lost one big gun but got a Kenyan one in return. Express added two big guns to their arsenal but two foreign-made guns were stolen in an ambush. The moves of Hassan Mubiru from Villa and Jamil Kyambadde from KCC, to Express, were confirmed. The move of Maurice Sunguti from Express to Villa was also confirmed, and Saidi Abedi from Express to KCC, was also cleared. The National Football League Committee vice-chairman Livingstone Lajan chaired the players transfer exercise with all club representatives. The biggest scramble was for Abedi, whose move Express said was not done as per the regulations. He was sanctioned to join KCC after his former officials failed to produce a three-year contract deal with him. NFLC's Lajan who chaired the final players transfer exercise at Nakivubo stadium, said Express did not follow the rules regarding contracted players. Express secretary Julius Kavuma Kabenge argued that Abedi could not transfer to KCC because he is on contract with the club for three years. He was however challenge to prove if they deposited the contract with NFLC, which he could not justify in accordance with the rules. Godfrey Kirumira, Express chairman claimed the contract was given to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and it was not their fault they had not copied it to NFLC. "We are recommending Abedi to join KCC but you (Express) can go ahead to petition FUFA if you are not satisfied with the ruling," Lajan concluded. The exercise took a short time because of "no objection" from losing clubs. Four players were blocked and would resort to round table negotiations. Controversial Chicago FC blocked Mathias Ndaula moving to Villa because he had not served the club for two years. Chicago are fresh promotions to the Super league. Others blocked due to irregularities, are Lawrence Kizito from UPDF to KCC, Haruna Mawa from Arua to Villa and Godfrey Kavulu from Miracle to Horizon. Ends.
