By Catherine Ntabadde THE Police at Katwe are investigating allegations that Mubende LC5 chairman Col. Kasirye Gwanga caused an accident and threatened to shoot the victim on Friday night. Albert Ochieng, the officer-in-charge of Katwe Police Station, told The New Vision yesterday that a complaint of threatening violence and causing malicious damage had been opened against Kasirye. Efforts to get a comment from Kasirye yesterday were fruitless. Ochieng said Kasirye, who was driving a saloon car, knocked Kakooza's vehicle as he negotiated the Clock Tower round-about. Kakooza, a resident of Kibuye, Wansaso zone, works with the National Cultural and Traditional Healers' Association (NACOTHA) in Katwe. The Police said Kakooza claimed that when he got out of his car and asked Kasirye why he had knocked his car, Kasirye asked him whether he knew who he was. Kakooza later drove off to his offices. Kasirye reportedly followed him and told him not to get out of the car, threatening to shoot him if he did. Ochieng said many people gathered at the NACOTHA offices and Kakooza disappeared into the crowd. Kasirye reportedly started shooting at Kakooza's car. Police officers on patrol in the area heard the shots and rushed to the scene, where Kasirye identified himself. Ends.
