UCA fundraising drive hits sh105m mark

UGANDA Cricket Association has raised sh105m of sh155m needed to stage the Africa U-19 Cup next week.

By Peter Ekarot UCA is committed to raise sh65m on top of the sh90m from the ICC that was donated towards running the Cricket Academy and laying new wickets at the Lugogo and Kyambogo Ovals, venues of the ten-nation competition. The new Kyambogo pavilion and playing surface cost sh50m, Lugogo oval and refurbishment of Sports Hostel took sh15m. ICC wickets and Academy project took sh90m, taking the total to sh155m. Full list of donors: Sudhir Ruparelia (sh5m), Kazinga Channel (sh4m), Presidential Adviser John Nagenda (sh2m), MTN Uganda (sh1.5m), Stone Sales (sh1m), Hima Cement (sh1m), Aquva Hardwares (sh0.6m), Kikagati Enterprises (sh0.5m) and Shumukh Group (sh0.5m). Others are Speke Hotel (sh0.5m), Spedag (sh0.5m), Uganda Oxygen (sh0.45), New Vision (sh0.4m), BPC Paints (sh0.3m), Peacock Paints (sh0.3m), Tororo Cement (sh0.3m), Sadolin Paints (sh0.3m), Berger Paints (sh0.3m), Crest Tank (sh0.2m), Tuf-Foam (sh0.2m), UCA chairman Francis Kazinduki (sh0.2m), Roofings (sh0.15), Cementers (sh0.15), Priamit Enterprises (sh0.1m) and Organic Chemicals (sh50,000). Nile Breweries (sh3m) and BAT Uganda's (sh5m) contributed to other UCA activities. Ends.
