By Ebenezer Bifubyeka ON Christmas day, a housewife in Buhwenju, Bushenyi District, was killed by her husband for spilling the meat stew. It all began when one Mzee Razzaro bought two kilogrammes of meat on Christmas eve. Early on Christmas day, he asked Mboniire, his wife, to cook him some meat. He wanted to eat before going to church. Razzaro who had not eaten meat in a long time, it seems, waited for about 30 minutes before he stormed the kitchen to find out what was happening. However, his wife told him the meat was not yet ready. After a short while, he went back. He called his wife lazy since the meat was not yet ready. Frightened, Mboniire added firewood to make a bigger fire and have the meat ready in record time. She was still huffing and puffing to make a bigger fire when her husband returned. She fidgeted as she put in more firewood hoping to show her husband that something was being done. In the process, she stepped on a piece of wood and the pot tipped over. The meat was spilled into the fireplace. Razzaro was enraged. He picked up a piece of firewood and hit Mboniire on the stomach. The woman, who was seven months pregnant, did not resist much. "Mboniire fell and breathed her last," one Joseph, a resident of the area told The New Vision. He said Mzee Razzaro, a father of six, was arrested by the irate residents and handed over to the local Police post where he is now detained. Ends.
