The three schools are Homing Dove International Primary School that got 35 first grades; Moyo Boys’ School that had 13 first grades and Fr. Bilbao Memorial Primary School that had six first grades.

Moyo District speaker Samuel Vuchiri recently said the best school would get sh1m, the second sh500,000 and the third sh300,000. Vuchiri explained that the excellence award was meant to encourage schools and pupils to work harder and continue excelling.

For the eigth year running, Moyo district has topped the seven West Nile districts in the PLE.

Moyo registered the highest ever pass rate of 98.6% and lowest failure rate of 1.4% in the 2010 PLE, followed by Arua with pass rates of 92.6%.

Felix Idraku, the inspector of schools, attributes the improved performance to concerted efforts from all stakeholders; a competitive spirit among the pupils and the revival of the Madi education awards, which motivated the pupils.

Idraku congratulated all the stakeholders for their efforts but appeals for sustainability and more improved performance.
