Awel Uwihanganye, the Youth Voices 2011 and Beyond coordinator said the ‘Get the Vote Out’ concert was meant to encourage young people to turn up in big numbers and vote for President Yoweri Museveni.

“Through music and arts, we shall be able to reach out to the young people who form the majority voters in Uganda,” he said.

Uwihanganye said there was need to form a strong youth platform within the NRM to have their voices heard.

The next ‘Get the Vote Out’ concert will be in Mbale today for eastern region and then Mbarara before holding the last one at Makerere University on the 14th.

Douglas Okao, the NRM administrator in Gulu said: “Everybody used to think that northern Uganda was the strong hold of the opposition, but this time northern Uganda is for NRM.”

“Out of all the political parties in Uganda, it is only NRM that has demonstrated the capacity to lead this country,” The northern Uganda youth MP Denis Hamson Obua said.
