MAKERERE University will start admitting students for masters and Phd programmes twice a year in a bid to address the high demand for postgraduate studies, officials have said.
The university suspended six of its postgraduate courses last year, citing lack of enough teaching staff, but reinstated them two months later.
Yesterday, the director of research and graduate training, Prof Katunguka Rwakishaya, said the university would receive applications every semester.
The university has two academic semesters, which start in August and January.
Katunguka said the university would increase graduate intake from 2,000 in the previous years to 4,000 every year.
The proposal, however, will have to be approved by the Senate before it can be implemented.
