THE First Lady and MP for Ruhaama County, Mrs Janet Museveni, has assured all people that the NRM Government desires to make Uganda a model country in Africa, given that it was the only Government which had made commendable developments since the country’s independence.

She said what the NRM Government has done to transform Uganda could be clearly seen by anyone and it should therefore be returned to power to continue with its development programmes.

Janet, who has ended the campaign for re-election as the MP for Ruhaama in the 39 parishes of the constituency, was addressing mammoth rallies in all those parishes that form the seven sub-counties of Ruhaama, according to a release from her office.

She also reminded voters of the time when Uganda had no peace and they were strangers in their own land. Janet advised people not to play with the peace ushered in by the NRM, which she said was the competitive edge it had over the other parties.

She requested voters to show their appreciation of what the Government had done for them by voting overwhelmingly for the NRM flag-bearers at all levels.

In a release from her office, Janet noted that during her term as MP, she laid a development foundation for Ruhaama which she was committed to build on when re-elected as their MP so that Ruhaama becomes permanently strong and steadily moving up.

She said what she had done could easily be seen by all and advised the people of Ruhaama to ignore those in the opposition saying she had done nothing and instead ask them to show off any development brought to Ruhaama in the 15 years her predecessor was area MP.

She said if re-elected, in addition to supporting programmes in the NRM manifesto, she would continue to support construction and rehabilitation of schools not catered for in the Government programmes so that children can study in a better environment to depict what the NRM Government stands for.

Water will be provided to all schools and health units and later be extended to the communities. She said health facilities would be rehabilitated and equipped to ensure improved performance.

She added that she would continue supporting improvement of agriculture and encouraging income generating activities for improved livelihoods.
Janet said she would also introduce a revolving fund for the elderly and the different religious prayer places.

She also commissioned NRM taskforces comprising 60 people from each village in the seven sub-counties of Ruhaama and requested them to carry out door-to-door campaign for NRM flag-bearers in their areas. Janet welcomed big groups of people who crossed from FDC to the NRM and urged them to mobilise others to join the NRM party for a peaceful, united and prosperous Uganda.

The people praised Janet for her performance during her tenure as their MP in the last five years. They vowed to support her, President Yoweri Museveni and all NRM flag-bearers and assured them of 100% votes.

The residents requested for electricity to be extended to their parishes, grinding mills for women groups and more water sources.

They also asked for health units to save them from walking long distances to access the available ones.
