KINKIIZI East NRM parliamentary flag-bearer Dr. Chris Baryomunsi on Tuesday invited his opponent to join him at his last campaign rally so that he could get an opportunity to tell the people what he could do for them.

Baryomunsi, who has been in Parliament since 2006, is facing FDC’s Callist Mpabwoba and two independents, Lawrence Rwebishengye and James Kizza.

Appearing on Radio Kanungu Broadcasting Services, Baryomunsi extended an invitation to his opponents, saying they had failed to attract a sizable population to address.

Baryomunsi said he had no ill feelings for any of his opponents because they were exercising their democratic right, but warned that he would not allow anybody to divide the people on religious and tribal lines.

Baryomunsi’s invitation came after a caller challenged him to give a reason why he, as an NRM flag-bearer, was moving with independents at his campaign rallies, yet they were defeated in the NRM primaries.

The MP reasoned that these people were duly nominated and had a right to reach the population.

Baryomunsi was recently seen at a rally with the Woman independent parliamentary candidate for Kanungu, Jacqueline Kyatuheire, and LC5 chairperson independent candidate Godfrey Karabenda.

“I am under no obligation to deny anybody who was duly nominated a chance to talk to the people. Even my great opponent can come to my rally and talk to the people,” he said.
