EDITOR: I am grateful to the vice-chancellor of Makerere University, Professor Venansius Baryamureeba. He is doing commendable work. Makerere has made encouraging progress in many spheres.

Computerisation of all systems and extension of the library are some of these developments. Some faculties and schools have been merged into colleges for easy administration. All this has been achieved under the resourceful management of Baryamureeba.

No wonder, the university’s rating has improved to 10th position in Africa. I would like to recognise with appreciation the appointment of Professor Musaazi as the principal of the College of Education and External Studies.

Musaazi is kind, humane, considerate, a moralist and a cheerful lecturer. He is always available and ready to assist his students whenever he is approached. This has earned him admiration not only by his students but also by all those who have interacted with him.

He is a mentor and a role model to many. Having spent many years of his career lecturing in different international universities, this has instilled in him a sense of diplomacy and courtesy.
