The Coleus plant has very colourful foliage and is popular as a houseplant in pots and in gardens. Its geographic origin is Southeast Asia and Malaysia.
Coleus is self sowing and can spread easily.
It may grow old and wild especially if grown in containers. You may cut it back to encourage new growth.
Solenostemon scutellarioides aka Coleus rainbow series / Lamiaceae
With its rare foliage and blue flower, the coleus rainbow series stands out in the garden. It grows well both in containers and outdoors.
This attractive plant is propagated by stem or leaf cuttings. It spreads very fast and is a good ground cover.
It is not drought resistant and does enjoy semi shaded areas. It causes skin irritation and allergic reactions to some people when touched.
