Boxing referee Kasule is dead

A local sport is yet again mourning. One of Uganda most celebrated boxing referees Bob Kasule, 65 passed away at Mengo hospital yesterday.

A local sport is yet again mourning. One of Uganda most celebrated boxing referees Bob Kasule, 65 passed away at Mengo hospital yesterday.

Kasule failed to recover from an operation after being admitted with stomach complications.

Alex Kasule, one of the deceased’s sons, said his father died after a six hour surgery to rid him of gallstones.
He was first admitted at Mayo clinic last Friday. He was later transferred to Mengo on Tuesday.

He left a wife Christine and five boys and four girls. Alex Kasule said the body would remain at Mengo hospital mortuary yesterday. Burial is set for Sunday in Busaabala.

Kasule rose in the referee/judges ranks of world amateur boxing body AIBA in the seventies and eighties. He officiated at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He also served as UOC treasurer.
