MWIRI cricket club marked their debut in national league cricket with a 20-run victory over Jinja SSS as the 2011 season rolled off with four division two encounters.

MWIRI cricket club marked their debut in national league cricket with a 20-run victory over Jinja SSS as the 2011 season rolled off with four division two encounters.

Mwiri raced to 111 all out thanks to Adonia Waibale 21 runs and Nicholas Kisarale and David Kateyenge 17. Ivan Kabunga then took 4-29 as Mwiri dismissed their neighbours for 91 – Baker Mugoda with 21 top-scoring for JICC. It is in schools cricket where the name Mwiri remains renowned but the club, whose team has both current and former students of Busoga College Mwiri, could harness more fame.

Elshewhere, Mohammed Shafeek bagged 140 as the Challengers defeated JICC by a whooping 240 runs. The Challengers scored 324.
