FARMERS in Kaliro district have rioted after they discovered that the seeds they purchased were rotten.
The farmers from Nawaikoke sub-county in Kaliro district demonstrated after noticing that the groundnut seeds given to them under the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) programme could not grow.
They held the demonstration at Nsamule parish headquarters where the district NAADS coordinator, Stephen Kakolokombe, had delivered 15 bags of ground nut seeds for distribution on Sunday.
Kakolokombe told the farmers that each kilogramme of the seeds cost sh4,000. The farmers, however, went wild after some of them noticed the seeds were rotten.
