OVER 140 jobs are up for grabs in various ministries and government departments. There are positions for people qualified in law, information technology, policy analysts, sociology, laboratory technicians, water engineers and economists.

Geologists, agriculturalists, metal fabricators and surveyors are also needed.

Slots to be filled include over two for commissioners and their assistants.
Eligible candidates can pick the application forms from the Public Service Commission head office at Farmers House in Kampala and from district headquarters.

Applicants must attach three sets of certified academic documents plus three recent passport size photographs.
Interested people can apply for a maximum of two vacancies.

A few of the available vacancies were advertised earlier, according to an advertisement in today’s New Vision.

The deadline for the applications is May 4.

An official in the public service ministry advised interested people to desist from submitting forged documents.
He said several have been destroyed in the past in addition to arresting the culprits.

“We have been doing this for a long time. By looking at someone’s file, it is possible to tell fake documents,” he said.

On re-advertised posts, the official said sometimes the applicants do not meet the criteria. In other instances, even after recruitment, some posts remain vacant, hence the need to re-advertise.
He said more vacancies in search of senior staff will be advertised next week.
