THE 2010 MVP Jude Keremundu like many a superstar has enhanced his looks with dreadlocks. However, the Heathens star will soon have more reason to mind about style when SuperSport starts televising Ugandan rugby.

Keremundu, who was recognized for his 2010 achievements at Sheraton Hotel on Thursday night wore even a broader smile when Uganda Rugby Union boss William Blick announced he was on the verge on signing a three-year contract with the South African pay television. SuperSport signed a similar deal with Uganda Super League midweek.

“I have delivered on the local scene and my focus is to help Uganda achieve at international level with much emphasis on wining the CAR Cup and qualifying for the 2015 World Cup, “Keremundu stated.

Keremundu beat teammate Benon Kiiza and former Impis star now with Pirates Marlon Ondiege.

Thunderbird’s Christine Kizito won the women MVP Award for second time in a row, beating Helen Gizamba, Charlotte Mudoola (Black Panthers) and teammate Brenda Kayiyi.

Vision Group Johnson Were emerged best journalist, while Heathens’ Brian Tabaruka was voted Best coach and Denis Anguyo was best Referee.

The deal will cover major events

Blick, who had what he described as a very fruitful meeting with the pay television officials in Kampala expects to receive a contract after the Easter holiday and a formal signing ceremony would be organised.

“It’s a big step in right direction. I am 100% sure about our impending partnership with them,” an elated Blick explained in a separate interview yesterday.

They will start with live broadcast of the Four Nations tournament involving Uganda, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Ivory Coast in Kampala due June 13-18.

Uganda Cup, Seven circuit, a monthly rugby magazine and selected league games would be televised and all Cranes international matches. A live game costs no less than $100,000 (sh239m).

Last season, SuperSport televised the Uganda-Kenya Elgon Cup game.

“I am glad we have virtually come to a conclusion,” Blick stated.
