KYADONDO East MP-elect Ssemujju Nganda has been granted sh1m cash bail by Nakawa Court and ordered to reappear in court on May 12, 2011, writes Andrew Ssenyonga.

Last Thursday, Grade one magistrate George Obong charged Ssemujju with inciting violence and rioting.

Ssemujju was arrested last Thursday and detained at Jinja Road Police station for several hours over attempting to walk to work in protest of high fuel and commodity prices.

Although Ssemujju was granted bail on Thursday, he was remanded to Luzira Prison because his sureties, Salaamu Musumba and Fred Mpanga could not to pay the charge as they found the banks closed.

After being bailed Ssemujju told journalists that he will continue his walk to work campaign tomorrow.

Other opposition leaders who defied Police orders not going on with their walk-to-walk demonstration in different parts of the country were arrested, charged and remanded to various prisons in the country.
