Faith co-owns La Diosa (www.ladiosa.co.uk), a high end fashion brand in London, which specialises in luxury jewellery.
She created a silver and blue topaz honey-moon pendant for Kate. Faith worked with her business partner, Semhal Zemikael, to come up with the design, according to information posted on fashion websites. The pair, who have a shop in Hatton Garden and a wholesale jewellery business, created the “Honey-Moon†pendant and sent it to Kate as an unsolicited gift. “While the designers were expecting to have the package returned to them, they instead received a letter from Clarence House expressing Middleton’s thanks and that she had been “touched†by the gift,†one report said. The website explained that Faith and Zemikael were inspired to create the pendant after discovering a photograph of Faith’s mother, Edith Biryabarema, with the late Princess Diana. In the photograph, the late princess was wearing the Garrard engagement ring, which William recently gave to Kate. The girls designed the pendant for Kate as a way to continue the connection between Faith’s family and the most talked about engagement ring of all time. La Diosa is now selling the pendant on its website at £240 (about sh924,000). Internet articles describe the necklace as a bold yet elegant piece, made to be worn by a confident woman with a unique sense of style. La Diosa, which means The Goddess in Spanish, aims at empowering the wearer with its innovative yet wearable style. Faith was born in Uganda but relocated to the UK as a toddler with her mother, who now lives in East London. Faith says her father was a fashion designer in Uganda. Faith and Zemikael’s shop specialises in creating luxurious jewellery using refreshingly rare and unique gemstones. The talented duo travelled the world to seek inspiration for their multi-award winning business. Their travels took them to the Mayan ruins of Mexico, the exotic islands of Thailand, Tokyo, Singapore and Malaysia. “Beauty inspires me. It has no boundaries and requires no explanation. It simply speaks for itself like La Diosa jewellery,†Faith said during an interview.
