Mbale Anglican bishop laid to rest

THE first Anglican bishop of North Mbale, the Rt. Rev. Peter Mudonyi who died early in the week, was on Wednesday laid to rest at All Saints Church, Nambulu, Sironko district.

THE first Anglican bishop of North Mbale, the Rt. Rev. Peter Mudonyi who died early in the week, was on Wednesday laid to rest at All Saints Church, Nambulu, Sironko district.

Mudonyi who died in a Kampala hospital at the age of 82 has been the chairman of Bamasaaba Elders Forum. He retired from active religious service in 1997.

The Bukedi diocese bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nicodemus Okille, who presided over the burial, described Mudonyi as a person who used his time to promote the causes he believed in.

In a condolence message, the president of North America Masaaba Cultural Association, Bob Mushikori, said Mudonyi encouraged the Bamasaaba in the diaspora to support the Inzu Ya Masaaba, a cultural institution that unites Bamasaaba clans living in Kenya and Uganda.

He is survived by a wife, seven children and 17 grandchildren.
